Got this book because we were staying in Grand Case. Based on the book's recommendation for a lunch stop/wine store, we spent the first day trying to find Bacchus. The star for its location on the "map" made by the author does not help you out one iota trying to find that place. After driving around and around we finally gave up and had to ask our hotel how to get there another day (it's back on a side street in an industrial area).This book would be better if it had reviewed additional hotels, instead of simply reading like a description of the author's own vacation at one hotel. We stayed at the Grand Case Beach Club, which was amazing. The reviewer's description of the rocky beach only describes the far end of that beach.
The restaurant review(s) were hit or miss. The bad review of Le Prossier was so off it was strange. That restaurant was a favorite of many people we met, and one of ours too.
It would have been nice to have some description of day trips or adventures other than scuba diving. We had to get a second book to figure out what to do on the island.
All that said, it was nice to have photos and details for so many restaurants. And the book's recommendation of Sky's the Limit lolo was spot on!

My husband and I have been using this book to plan our trip to St. Martin. It's exactly what we needed. Full of frank reviews by an author who has spent a lot of time on the island and knows her stuff. I like that she covers a range of price points too. It's also well written and set out and a pleasure to read.
Exactly what we were looking for when planning our honeymoon in St Martin! My husband is a big foodie, so this covered what was most important to us.
We just spent 2 weeks in St. Martin to celebrate our 4th year anniversary. This book made our trip much easier in deciding not just where to eat, but also gave us tips on where to shop and get cash from local ATM's. The layout of the book makes it a good read because Lucinda provides plenty of visuals to help you identify the restaurants that give a 1=1 exchange rate and tweets from other travelers that give their own recommendations from their last visits to the island. Lucinda really did what she set out to do, which was condense all the stacks of information on the internet to a nice travel size book that you could keep in the glove compartment of your car. Thanks we really appreciated it. Well worth the money spent.
